After conducting an exercise or experiencing a disaster, organizations should conduct an After Action Review (AAR). An AAR is a structured review or process for analyzing what happened, why it happened, areas of strength and areas of improvement by the individuals involved in the event or exercises. Information from the AAR can then be used to improve mitigation, preparedness and response plans.
The Texas Engineering Extension Service can assist with the after action review process. Our facilitators can guide your organization or community through facilitated workshops designed to draw out the strengths and areas of improvement after an exercise or disaster. TEEX will then develop the AAR based on workshop feedback.
